Admissions Application

Q:    What is the Admissions Application and how do I get one?

A:    The Admissions Application is the form required of all students who have not attended a credit class within the past year.  Application forms can be obtained at the admissions counter at Santa Ana College or by calling the PSI Office (714-241-5823), or by downloading and printing them out (see REGISTRATION page).  One is also included in each printed PSI Business Seminars schedule (available by request on the MAIL LIST page).

California Residency Requirement

Q:    What is the California residency requirement?

A:    Students who have not resided in California for one year prior to the beginning of the semester they want to attend are required to pay non-resident tuition.  Non-resident fees are based on the per unit charge and factored against the unit value of classes. The per unit charge for the academic year 2007-2008 is $183.00.  This means that PSI seminars of 0.2 units are $36.60 + tuition ($4.00) = $40.60 and seminars of 0.4 units are $73.20 + tuition ($8.00) = $81.20.  If you have any questions please call 714-241-5823.

Student I.D. Numbers

Q:    What are Student I.D. Numbers and what if I have forgotten mine?

A:   If you have been attending classes in the Rancho Santiago Community College District (i.e. Santa Ana College or Santiago Canyon College) for many years, you might have a distinctive 5 or 6 digit "Perm number."  This number is your student I.D. number and will remain so.  If, however, you are a newer student and have been using your social security number as your student ID, you have now been issued a new 9 digit number which replaces your social security number.  If you are a brand new student, with no history at the college, you will start out with a new 9 digit number.  To find your new number, go to the Santa Ana College website, www.sac.edu   Toward the right side of the home page there is a listing of "Online Services."  Near the bottom of this list, click on "Online Records."  The next page is the Online Records System, click on the first tab labeled "Online Records."  The next screen asks that you enter your student I.D.#.  If you are new or don't know your new number, enter your SS#  and then your birth month and year (4 digits only, e.g. 0175, for January 1975) Click "Enter."  At the bottom of the next page in red is the question,  Do you know your new Student ID?   Click on this line for your number and additional information.

Numbers", for further information necessary to the registration process.

The best time to call is between noon and 3 p.m.  If all lines are busy you will get a message stating such or just a busy signal.  Please try calling back later.  If you encounter other problems or messages, call 714-564-6019.  Procedures for using the system are available on the REGISTRATION page and in the printed PSI Business Seminars Class Schedule.

Waiting Lists

Q:    Will there be a waiting list?

A:    Students registering for PSI classes are strongly advised NOT to get on a "Wait List" for a PSI class that indicates FULL.  Rather, students are advised to continue trying to add the full class.  When a student cannot attend a class and uses the telephone registration to drop the seminar, the space will become available to the next student who tries to register. Wait listed students are not given priority on the first day of class and once on the list you can no longer attempt to add the class.  Contact the PSI office for further information and/or to be removed from the Wait List.  714-241-5823  Also check the WHAT'S NEW page on this site for program and seminar updates.

Seminar Fees

Q:    What are the seminar fees and how do I pay them?

A:    Tuition is regulated by the State of California.  For the fiscal year 2007-2008, general college tuition is $20.00 per unit.  PSI classes are 0.2 units (8 hours) and 0.4 units (16 hours) which will cost $4.00 and $8.00 respectively.  All fees are collected during the first class session unless the student's employer has arranged a billing agreement with the PSI Office.

Canceling a Seminar Reservation

Q:    I cannot attend a seminar.  How do I cancel my reservation?  Will I still be charged the fee if I don't cancel?

A:    Please use either the online or the automated telephone registration system to cancel your reservation for a class.  This opens the space for another student.  It is your responsibility to cancel your reservation if you cannot attend.  You may cancel up to a week after the seminar has started but you will need to contact the PSI office staff for assistance. You will not be charged for any seminar you dropped in advance or did not attend.

Seminar Attendance Questions & Answers

Locations

Q:    How do I find the location of a seminar?

A:    There are several locations for PSI classes.  Every ticket number in the class schedule is followed by the unique information regarding that specific class. Pay particular attention to the day or days of the week that a class is held and where it is held.  Location is represented by letters that correspond to a specific facility that is identified on the Location Key, pages 2-3 in the PSI class schedule booklet and on the LOCATIONS page on this website.

Parking & Parking Fees

Q:    What is the parking situation and will there be a parking fee?

A:    The address, abbreviated directions, maps, and parking conditions for each site are clearly presented on the LOCATIONS page on this website and on the Location Key pages 2-3 in the printed PSI Business Seminar schedule.  Please be aware that not all parking is free.  Many of the off-site locations require a substantial parking fee.  These fees are not covered by PSI; they are not included in registration tuition; parking costs, if any, are the students' responsibility and should always be a consideration when making class selections.

Attendance

Q:    If I cannot attend the entire seminar, will I still get credit?

A:     Please contact either Dianne or Linda in the PSI Office if circumstances arise that will cause you to arrive late to a class or necessitate your leaving early.  Fulfillment of the state attendance requirement for each PSI seminar determines whether a participant receives the grade of  "credit" and whether or not a Certificate of Completion.  Call 714-241-5823 to reach the PSI office or leave a message on the FEEDBACK page.

Certificates of Completion

Q:    What is the Certificate of Completion and how do I get one?

A:    In the last few minutes of each seminar, a Certificate of Completion is given to each student who has fulfilled the attendance requirement of that seminar.  You will receive this certificate only if you are in attendance at the time they are given out by the instructor.  If you have to leave the class early, but do not miss more than 2 hours of the class and previously notified both the instructor and the PSI staff of this absence, you may contact the PSI office at 714-241-5823 to have a certificate mailed to you.  There are no other circumstances under which a Certificate of Completion will be re-issued or duplicated.   Instead we refer you to the college website at www.sac.edu where you can get a printout of your unofficial transcript which will list all classes you have taken at Santa Ana Community College including all PSI classes.
